Far East Film Festival 2012: il festival in cifre!

È stata annunciata oggi, martedì 10 aprile, in conferenza stampa al Visionario di Udine la Line-Up della 14a edizione del Far East Film Festival (Udine, dal 20 al 28 aprile 2012).

58 titoli (più 5 cortometraggi) provenienti da Cina (6), Hong Kong (10), Taiwan (3), Giappone (10), Corea del Sud (10), Thailandia (1), Malesia (2), Indonesia (2), Filippine (2) e Singapore (1) in programma al Teatro Nuovo “Giovanni da Udine” e al Visionario.  In evidenza: 2 anteprime mondiali – il giapponese “Thermae Romae” di TAKEUCHI Hideki e l’hongkonghese “The Bounty” di FUNG Chih-chiang -, 10 pellicole giapponesi (arricchite da un corto sulla tragedia di Fukushima firmato da uno degli autori più importanti della scena nipponica, HIROKI Ryuichi) e, per la prima volta in Europa, 4 corto/mediometraggi del Festival Fresh Wave di Hong Kong che Johnnie To dirige per conto dell’Hong Kong Arts Development Council.  Si aggiungono il film campione d’incassi in Asia, il taiwanese “You Are the Apple of My Eye” di Giddens e, in anteprima europea, il violentissimo e stilizzato film giapponese “Hard Romanticker” di GU Su-yeon. La 14a edizione segna inoltre un grande ritorno delle celebrities a cominciare da Johnnie TO a cui il Festival consegnerà il Gelso d’Oro alla Carriera e l’eccentrico PANG Ho-cheung che presenterà l’atteso “Vulgaria”.

La retrospettiva, The Darkest Decade, con 10 titoli quasi del tutto invisibili in Occidente, è dedicata ai registi coreani degli anni Settanta, coloro che nel “Decennio Oscuro”, nonostante la forte censura e il dirigismo produttivo del generale Park Chung Hee, hanno saputo creare dei capolavori rimasti nascosti.

Punta di diamante della selezione saranno inoltre il coreano “Sunny” di Kang Hyoung-chul, il film d’apertura in anteprima nazionale, venerdì 20 aprile, toccante ballata corale sull’amicizia femminile, e “The Viral Factor”  firmato dal re dell’action movie Dante Lam che farà rimanere con il fiato sospeso gli spettatori del “Giovanni da Udine” durante la Closing night del 28 aprile!

2 mostre: la prima, in collaborazione con l’associazione Hamelin di Bologna, incentrata sul nuovo fumetto cinese (Isole Cinesi) e la seconda sugli scatti d’autore del grande regista cinese Zhang Yuan, sui giovani outsider di Pechino (Beijing Flickers);

50 circa le personalità asiatiche, tra registi, sceneggiatori, attori e attrici, distributori che parteciperanno al Festival;

10 i produttori partecipanti al workshop Ties That Bind 2012 (“New Europe-Asia Workshop for Film Producers”, dal 22 al 26 aprile), di cui 5 dall’Asia e 5 dall’Europa.

Oltre 1000 (numero in crescita) gli accreditati;

200 (numero, in crescita) gli studenti e ricercatori italiani e stranieri provenienti da Austria, Ungheria, Francia, Inghilterra, Svezia e, oltreoceano, da Stati Uniti;
